MOLD MAKING
1. Apply a thin coat of rubber to catch all the detail.
2. Apply a slightly thicker coat of rubber to start building
thickness.
3. Attach a seam where the rubber will be cut later to open
the mold.
4. Finish the rubber.
5. Back the rubber up with plaster to stabilize the rubber.
6. Cut along the seam and remove the original
WAX PATTERN AND CERAMIC SHELL
CREATION
1. Pour hot wax into the mold. Gently roll the mold to coat
the inside of the mold with wax. Dump the excess wax out.
Repeat one or two more times to build the desired wax
thickness.
2. Once the wax is cool, open the mold and pull out the wax
copy of the original sculpture (pattern).
3. Use sculpting tools to fix (chase) any flaws in the wax
pattern.
4. Attach the sprue system (this is a pattern that will help
create “pipes” that the bronze will flow through to get to
the casting).
